Frequently Asked Questions

What is the AI Poem Generator?

The AI Poem Generator is an AI-powered tool that creates original poems in 10 classic poetic forms — including haiku, sonnet, limerick, free verse, villanelle, and more — based on a topic, optional mood, and an optional first line you provide. It uses a large language model to compose structurally correct, imaginative poetry in seconds.

Which poetic forms are supported?

The tool supports 10 forms: Haiku (3 lines, 5-7-5 syllables), Sonnet (14 lines, iambic pentameter), Free Verse (no fixed rules), Limerick (5 lines, AABBA rhyme), Ode (lyric tribute), Villanelle (19 lines with repeating refrains), Acrostic (first letters spell a word), Cinquain (5 lines with 2-4-6-8-2 syllables), Ballad (narrative stanzas), and Elegy (mournful reflection).

What should I write in the Topic field?

Enter any subject, image, emotion, or idea you want the poem to explore. Examples: 'the ocean at night,' 'a grandmother's hands,' 'the feeling of missing someone.' The more evocative your topic, the richer the poem will be.

What does the Mood option do?

The mood sets the emotional register of the poem. Choose from Joyful, Melancholic, Romantic, Dark, Hopeful, Nostalgic, Playful, or Contemplative. If you leave it blank, the AI selects a tone appropriate to the topic and form.

Can I provide a first line for the poem?

Yes. The optional First Line field lets you seed the poem with your own opening line. The AI will use it exactly as written and build the rest of the poem from it, following the structural rules of the selected form.

What does the Length option control?

For flexible forms (free verse, ode, ballad, elegy), Length controls how many stanzas or lines the AI writes: Short is minimal, Medium is standard, and Long is fuller. For fixed-form poems like haiku or limerick, the form determines the length.

Are the poems structurally accurate?

The AI is instructed to follow the strict structural rules of each form — syllable counts for haiku, rhyme schemes for sonnets and limericks, and repeating refrains for villanelles. Results are generally accurate, though minor variations can occur.

Is every generated poem unique?

Yes. Each request generates a fresh poem even with the same inputs. You can regenerate multiple times with the same topic to explore different interpretations and imagery.

Can I use these poems commercially or for publication?

Generated poems are provided for your use. AI-generated content may have copyright implications depending on your jurisdiction. For commercial publishing, consult a legal professional.

Is my input stored or used for AI training?

No. Your inputs and the generated poem are processed in real time and are not stored permanently or used for model training. All data transmission is encrypted.

How do I copy the generated poem?

Click the Copy Poem button at the top right of the output panel. It copies the poem title and full text to your clipboard, ready to paste into any document or editor.

What is the Poetic Note shown below the poem?

The Poetic Note is a brief explanation of the main technique or imagery the AI used — such as a central metaphor, structural choice, or tonal device. It helps you understand the craft behind the output.
