Frequently Asked Questions
What is the AI Story Generator?
The AI Story Generator is an AI-powered tool that creates original short stories based on your inputs: genre, characters, setting, central conflict, desired length, and narrative perspective. It uses a large language model to produce fully written, readable fiction in seconds.
Which genres are supported?
The tool supports 10 genres: Fantasy, Science Fiction, Mystery, Romance, Thriller, Horror, Adventure, Historical Fiction, Literary Fiction, and Comedy. Each genre influences the language, atmosphere, and narrative conventions the AI uses.
How long can the generated story be?
You can choose from three lengths: Short (~300 words), Medium (~600 words), and Long (~1000 words). The AI targets these word counts, though the exact output may vary slightly.
What narrative perspectives are available?
The tool supports First Person (I/We), Third Person (He/She/They), and Second Person (You). The AI maintains the chosen perspective consistently throughout the entire story.
What should I write in the Characters field?
Describe your main character or characters in a sentence or two. Include key traits, motivations, or roles (e.g., 'A seasoned detective with a troubled past and a knack for puzzles'). The more specific you are, the richer the story.
What should I write in the Setting field?
Describe the world or location where your story takes place. This could be as simple as 'A rain-soaked Victorian city' or as detailed as 'A post-apocalyptic desert colony on Mars in the year 2347.' The AI uses this to establish atmosphere and backdrop.
What should I write in the Conflict field?
Describe the central problem, challenge, or tension that drives the story. This is the narrative engine — for example, 'A string of impossible thefts that defy all logic' or 'A betrayal that threatens to destroy everything they built together.'
What does the Mood / Tone field do?
The optional Mood / Tone field guides the emotional register of the story. Examples include 'dark and gritty,' 'whimsical and lighthearted,' or 'hopeful and bittersweet.' If left empty, the AI chooses a tone appropriate to the genre.
Is my story unique every time?
Yes. The AI generates a new story with each request, even if you use the same inputs. You can generate multiple stories from the same prompt and choose your favourite, or iterate by tweaking the inputs.
Can I use the generated stories commercially?
The generated stories are provided for your use. However, AI-generated content may have copyright implications depending on your jurisdiction and intended use. For commercial publishing, consult a legal professional.
Is my story data stored or used for training?
No. Your inputs and the generated story are processed in real-time and are not stored permanently or used for AI model training. All data transmission is encrypted.
Can I copy the generated story?
Yes. A 'Copy Story' button appears at the top of the output panel. It copies the full story including the title and optional story hook to your clipboard, ready to paste into any document or editor.
