Frequently Asked Questions
What is the AI World Building Assistant?
The AI World Building Assistant is an AI-powered tool that generates structured lore and world notes for fictional universes. You provide a premise, choose a world type and detail level, select which sections to generate (geography, history, cultures, magic systems, etc.), and the AI returns a fully organized set of world-building notes.
Which world types are supported?
The tool supports 8 world types: Fantasy, Science Fiction, Post-Apocalyptic, Historical Fiction, Contemporary/Modern, Horror, Steampunk, and Cyberpunk. Each type influences the tone, conventions, and content the AI generates to stay genre-appropriate.
What sections can I generate?
You can choose from up to 8 sections: Geography (regions, climate, overview), History & Timeline (origin, major events, current era), Cultures & Peoples (names, customs, descriptions), Magic/Technology (system name, rules, limitations), Politics & Factions (government, conflicts), Economy & Resources (trade, class structure), Religion & Beliefs (deities, rituals), and Notable Locations (names, descriptions, significance).
What does the Detail Level option do?
Detail Level controls how much depth and verbosity each section contains. "Brief" gives quick overviews ideal for a first draft or rapid ideation. "Standard" provides a balanced, usable set of notes. "Detailed" generates more items per list and richer descriptions suitable for a full lore bible.
What should I write in the Premise field?
The premise is a short description of your world's core concept or hook — a sentence or two that captures the central idea. For example: "A dying empire on a planet with two suns, where magic is outlawed but secretly runs the economy." The more specific and vivid the premise, the more unique and cohesive the generated world.
What does the Tone / Mood field do?
Tone is optional but helps guide the emotional atmosphere of the world. Examples: "dark and gritty," "whimsical and hopeful," "gothic and oppressive," "epic and mythological." If left empty, the AI picks a tone appropriate to the world type.
Can I select only some sections?
Yes. You can check or uncheck any combination of sections. This is useful when you only need to fill in certain parts of a world (e.g. just the political factions and economy for a game scenario) without generating everything at once.
Can I generate the same world again with different sections?
The AI generates fresh content with each request. You can run the tool multiple times with the same premise but different section selections or detail levels to gradually build out a complete world. However, the AI does not remember previous results — each generation is independent.
How do I copy the generated notes?
A "Copy All" button in the world header copies the entire set of generated notes as plain text, formatted with section headings and bullet points. You can paste it directly into any document, note-taking app, or writing tool.
Can I use the generated world for my published work?
The generated content is provided for your creative use. AI-generated content may have copyright implications depending on your jurisdiction and intended use. For commercial publishing, consult a legal professional. Always review and expand the AI output with your own creative voice.
Is my input data stored?
No. Your premise, settings, and generated world notes are processed in real-time and are not stored permanently on the server or used for AI model training. All data transmission is encrypted.
Is this tool suitable for tabletop RPG campaigns?
Absolutely. The structured output — with factions, locations, cultures, and history — maps directly to what a tabletop GM needs. You can generate a complete campaign setting in minutes, then expand or customize each section for your game.
